From inspiration to quilt.. (..Top!)

Image
I couldn't resist uploading a couple of quick photos of (one of) my Works-In-Progress!  It's big, so I'm going to have fun (note the sarcasm) trying to find a place big enough to baste it, but I'll manage.  I hope...                                                     This pattern was the inspiration for it.  (From the magazine: Quick Quilts #31. )  I doubled the size of the blocks, (from 4" to 8") left out the separating strips, changed the colors, rotated the blocks, gave it three borders...   So yes, I have changed it quite a bit.  πŸ˜…  My mother loves all things citrus, so I couldn't resist!  😊 I must say that borders are a glorious way to quickly increase the size of your quilt without making fifty-plus extra blocks, but I digress.   I had rather a lot of fun twisting and turning the blocks fo...

A little bit of creative wisdom..

Hello!  Today I'd like to leave you with a quick project tip/lesson that I hope will help you enjoy your creative time even more! Your creation doesn't have to be perfect. Now, I know what many of you are probably already thinking, especially if you, like me, have a bit of a perfectionist streak.   "How could I do something like that?!!  I should do my best, shouldn't I?!!  People are going to be expecting perfection from me, so that means that I should be meeting their expectations, right?" Well, yes and no . The truth is, doing your best doesn't have to mean being  perfect.  I used to think that if my seams didn't perfectly match, then I had to rip them out and redo them, again and again, until I got them perfectly aligned.  It didn't matter if they were even the tiniest fraction off, so small that it wouldn't even be noticeable to anyone but me, that stubborn seam just had to be fixed .  And when this happened, I realized that I was...

Some creative inspiration

There's so much that I want to create, but so little time to do it all!  I try to at least play with ideas whenever possible, though! This is absolutely going to be for my mother, as she adores lemons.  Though I'll probably have to make more quilt blocks first...  πŸ€”πŸ˜Š ..And a bit of color inspiration!  The colors are a bit brighter in real life, but it was a rather sunny day today!  πŸ˜… ~Kat  😸🌺

Around the garden I wander...

Here are some more photos! This has got to be one of my favorite photos that I have ever taken.  I'm so happy that my anemones are finally blooming! The smell of these carnations are simply divine!  Sweet, yet tantalizingly spicy, as well! We still have daffodils blooming at home!  The weather patterns here may be strange, but at least we get to enjoy the Spring flowers for longer.  πŸ˜„ A most magnificent lilac, indeed. The one photo I managed to take of Ginger that wasn't his furry face directly in the camera's lens!  He loves photos!  πŸ˜…  I'm curious to see how the Pak choy and brussels sprouts will taste once they're ready to be harvested.  I'm looking forward to cooking with these! ~Kat  😸🌺

Life is quite wonderful!

I couldn't resist going out into our back garden to snap a few quick photos.  It's so beautiful right now!  Everything smells so lovely, the flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and the birds are singing!  I'm finding that I'm spending more and more time out of doors, as the Spring weather is finally here!   Though I suspect that in a couple of months' time, I'll be glad for the air conditioning... ~Kat  😸🌺 The crabapple and pear trees are in full bloom! ..As are the forget-me-nots... ..And here's a photo of our one white lilac in the side garden, but we have a couple purple ones around the property.

Hello and welcome!

This is my first official post on my blog, so I hope to make it memorable! First, I'd like to say a big thank you to all who happen to stumble across my little corner of the internet.  I'm so happy for the chance to get to meet everyone!  πŸ˜„ Second, my blog was named after one of my dearly departed rabbits, Shadow.  I always had a feeling that I'd be naming my future blog after him, and I have decided that the time is now! Third, you may recognize me from Wattpad.  There, I am @chickengirl250, though I also use @ShadowrabbitDesigns as a backup and follow-back account.  I am generally on there sometime during the day, most days, so please feel free to say hello!  That's it for now, so I will leave you with a couple parting images of my rabbit, Ginger!  🌺
